Governance and Accountability

The Governance and Accountability programme was established to shift societal norms towards transparency and accountability by adopting a community-driven approach to combat corruption.


As a member of the Risk Communication and Community Engagement Committee of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, the Yar’Adua Foundation contributed significantly to creating awareness and driving behavioural change across Nigeria. The Foundation:

  • Deployed an online platform ( to support national surveillance efforts in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria
  • Launched #COVID19StopsWithMe campaign, reaching over 40 million citizens
  • Managed a team of volunteers to escalate confirmed reports to relevant health authorities
  • Supported seven implementing partners to promote awareness and government accountability in management of the COVID-19 pandemic, including use of the Foundation’s C19 Nigeria platform to report suspected cases within their target communities
